Equip2 recently held a two-day event simply called “Demo Day”. The legendary Equip2 Demo Day event is in its fourth iteration as NZ’s biggest quarrying equipment event, boasting everything a professional would want to see at an equipment-focused event, plenty of machinery, practical demonstrations and plenty of networking opportunities.

EQUIPMENT

Terra Cat partnered with Equip2 again this year, providing handling and loading equipment like the 345GC and 336GC excavators and 966GC wheel loader used during the two days to feed the mobile crushers and screens at the demo area.

With over seven live equipment demonstrations there was plenty to see from Keestrack and Portafill and QDC. A Masterton based contractor and quarry provided the needed space for all the equipment and some of their Keestrack quarrying equipment featured as a part of the demonstrations.

Some highlights from the equipment demonstrations included various materials like alluvial, concrete, face rock and topsoil which were processed through a range of crushers and screens. Equipment included the Keestrack H4e hybrid electric cone crusher, Keestrack R5 50-tonne impact crusher, Keestrack’s latest R3h 30-tonne impact crusher and Equip2’s largest scalping screen to date; the Keestrack K6.

THE EQUIP2 EXPERIENCE

Breakfast, lunch and coffee was provided at Equip2’s new workshop and offices, allowing attendees a place to network and discuss other static equipment in detail.

The new, and much larger Equip2 premises provided the much needed space for a relaxing networking environment, and, being over nine times bigger, could comfortably contain both people and equipment indoors.

During lunch presentations from Keestrack, Equip2 and Prime Pump provided the audience with different activities, initiatives and projects happening inside the companies.

EDGE EQUIPMENT LAUNCH

Finishing off the day was a shredding equipment demonstration with Equip2’s latest line of equipment from EDGE Innovate. The EDGE Slayer XL, a mobile slow speed shredder, shredded some locally sourced demolition waste heavy with wood, tin and other materials that wouldn’t be processed through a crusher, providing an interesting solution to processing different materials.

The new EDGE Innovate equipment line also features screening, stacking and recycling stations – intended to aid recycling and waste management operators improve efficiency and ultimately improve the handling of recyclable and waste materials.

WHY DOES EQUIP2 HOST SUCH AN EVENT?

Bert Hart, Equip2’s sales manager, says: “Every Demo Day has been bigger and better, and the Demo Day is not only one of the largest of its kind in the country, but also positions Equip2 as the equipment advisor for the quarry and mining industry.

It provides an opportunity for customers to network with others and pick up innovative ideas which they can take back to their own operation – it’s something we facilitate and give back to the industry.”
