Powerscreen’s new Trakpactor 480SR touches downSponsored
The first of its kind in NZ - the Powerscreen Trakpactor 480SR impact crusher recently landed at Stevens Group's Auckland facility. Stevens Group distributes Powerscreen's full range of crushing and screening equipment, parts and service in New Zealand.
Powerscreen® Trakpactor 480SR
Product: Impact crusher overview
The Powerscreen® Trakpactor 480SR horizontal shaft impactor is designed for processing soft- to medium-hard primary and secondary materials such as natural rock and construction-derived materials like asphalt, recycling and demolition waste.
Material is fed into the large feed hopper, with a vibrating grizzly feeder which features a selectable crusher bypass facility and an optional fines discharge conveyor. Load sensing ensures the wide crusher inlet opening receives a continuous feed of pre-screened material, avoiding unnecessary crusher wear.
The SR section is fully detachable using quick release hydraulics and electrics. To enable this, the recirculation conveyor slews into transport position along the side of the machine. The recirculating conveyor can also slew from recirculating to stockpiling position.
The Powerscreen Trakpactor 480SR's robust impact chamber features a twin apron, 4 bar rotor design, with hydraulic release aprons, hydraulic setting adjustment, and hydraulic crusher overload, and is driven directly off the engine via clutch for optimum fuel economy.

Designed to crush even the toughest materials with remarkable power, this machine is a true focal point within New Zealand's landscapes. North Island NZ.
Impact crushers (reduction & product shaping)
Impact crushers (also known as impactors or horizontal shaft impactors) can be used in primary, secondary, or tertiary applications. They use inertia of the blowbars fitted to the rotor to fracture the material, resulting in a high reduction ratio. Impactors are often used as a cost-effective alternative to jaw and cone combination plants as they have a good level of reduction and product shaping for many applications.
Reducing large material to a sellable product
Powerscreen impact crushers are designed to excel as primary impactors, taking large feed material and reducing it down to a sellable product. They're also extremely suitable for secondary applications where material is fed by a primary crusher and reduced to a finer product. Powerscreen's impactor range is ideal for shaping applications including making chips and sand, concrete manufacture, and glass recycling. The range includes both horizontal and vertical impact crushers.

Sustainable limestone
Limestone displays two crucial characteristics: it is harder than most types of gravel; and it has unique binding properties. These set it apart from other types of stone.
- Road base: crushed stone for general building purposes, roadbeds and railway track ballast
- Aglime: used to act as a soil conditioner by increasing soil pH, which represents a natural way to increase the productivity of soils in a wide range of soil conditions
- Process limestone for saleable uses such as decorative stone and limestone chip
